Laura Jae - Silver Lined Hearts
EP Review

Londonite singer/songwriter, Laura Jae’s new EP Silver Lined Hearts has been released this month, following the recently revealed new single, Out Getting Ribs, which received instant acclaim. Laura grew up on a diverse musical diet, from Norah Jones to The Carpenters, Sade and Toni Braxton. Producer friend Amour, was enlisted for the 6 song EP. ‘Silver Lined Hearts  sits somewhere between the darkly atmospheric tones of James Blake and The xx, the experimental sentiments of Bjork and the gritty melodies of King Krule.
This well produced EP shows off Laura Jaes bright, soulful voice on an array of levels, from the dope harmonies in Nostalgic, awesome clarity of her lower register in Running Wild to her beautiful falsetto in Love Triangle (Bonus Track). Let Go sets the tone for whats to come next in this emotive EP. Laura has used clever instrumentation throughout her songs, especially through the use of synths and bassy percussive beats. Numb and Out Getting Ribs are both powerful lyrical pieces, that show-off Lauras articulation and delve deep into the dark emotion from within. The cinematic instrumentation infused with the soulful/r&b flavour of Lauras voice, especially in Running Wild create a very captivating experience for the ears.

All 6 songs portray a unique side of Laura Jae, from her lyrical content to her captivating voice and creative cinematic instrumentation. The EP evokes soul-stirring tunes with a chilled out vibe. Whether youre in the bath or on a road trip, Silver Lined Hearts is well worth a listen!
