Two young, up-and-coming Australian artists have collaborated together for a fresh, new electro-pop track that recently dropped this year. 'Dynamite' by Penelope Austin features the rad hip-hop sounds of 18-year-old Melbourne rapper, Baro. This collaboration creatively reshapes pop sensibility. Baro’s flow and delivery, consistent with the dominant bass arrangement, establishes a complimentary backing for Penelope Austin’s delicate vocals.
Austin herself has an eclectic music taste. She finds herself immersed in inspiration, allowing her lyrics and melody to evolve simultaneously. From her urban nomadic lifestyle to her instinctive melodic choices, her free-spirited vigor compels her to experiment with different genres. Recently, she featured in two club anthems titled Animal Heart by Denzal Park and Home by Ivan Gough. She is not afraid to experiment with the delicate nature of her voice, as she often exercises her versatile timbre to hold notes through a breathless arabesque. Her vocal range allows her to tap into an extensive spectrum of sounds, demonstrating her utmost musical capabilities. The catchy hooks and lighthearted lyrics of Dynamite create a magnetic slice of a feel good pop.
Baro, on the other hand, is inspired by hip-hop legends Odd Future, Chance the Rapper and MF Doom. He was awarded a High Finalist of Triple J’s Unearthed contest for his electronic/hip-hop genre. His rise to local stardom has seen him perform support acts for artists like Allday, Remi, Spit Syndicate, Illy, BadBadNotGood and Citizen Kay. His music has been spun on Triple J and harks back to the sounds of A Tribe Called Quest. His overall success has been recognized through the digital love received from Vice, Noisey, Acclaim and many more.
