Now Playing: 'Waiting For Her' - Lupa J

Friday, March 6, 2015

In the last 18 months, Lupa J has made the transition from classically trained violinist to ultra cool contemporary electronic artist. Now in her final year at the prestigious Conservatorium High, Imogen Jones is ready to make her next move.

Her latest release, 'Waiting For Her', is a true example of the fact she is creating music beyond her years. I've gone through now 12 listenings of the track and I still can't get over how magnetic it is - that's how addictive it is.

The opening is almost chilling, giving the sense that something ominous is approaching. Even though you can hear those haunting noises in the background, they're instantly not as prominent when her voice kicks in. In a way, Lupa J's vocals bring a calming influence to the track. Their is something immensely beautiful about the way she balances the darkness with her tranquil energy.

Her songwriting is just as captivating - her vocals are smooth as she glides her voice over words of vanished love.
