Wasn’t Expecting That – Jamie Lawson (Released April 3rd, 2015)

This beautifully written song from up and coming Singer/Songwriter Jamie Lawson, which was released on iTunes in early April, is absolutely incredible. He’s slightly reminiscent of Ed Sheeran, who recently signed him onto his label Gingerbread. Lawson’s vocals are smooth and soft, allowing for the tone of the guitar and piano to shine a light melody through like a sunrise looking out over a calm hillside. One to watch in coming months, the 39 year old seems to have hit his stride, but only time will tell how meteoric his rise will be.

Speedom – Tech N9ne (ft. Eminem & Krizz Kaliko) (Released April 20th, 2015)

This highly anticipated collaboration lives up to every kind of hype it could have possibly received. Arguably two of the fastest speakers in Hip Hop, Tech N9ne and Eminem finally come together along with Krizz Kaliko to create what can only be described as molten hot fire. Here’s hoping this won’t be the last time we hear these guys on the same track, because as this high octane rhyme experience clearly shows, they work very well together.

My Terracotta Heart - Blur (Released April 17th, 2015)

Taken from their soon to be released eighth studio album, this track is emotive and melancholy, leaving the listener floating in the peaceful waters of frontman Damon Albarn’s siren song. In something that feels distinctly like a Gorillaz/Radiohead genetic splice, Blur’s splendid combinations of mournful melodies make this a song to remember. Look out for “The Magic Whip,” which is set to be released on April 27th.

Snake Eyes - Mumford and Sons (Released April 20th, 2015)

The third single release from the band’s upcoming album “Wilder Mind,” this track is beautifully layered, and follows their well known structure of slow build to gradual but gigantic crescendo. It’s energetic and chaotic in all the right ways, and has a tremendous uplifting quality that fits like a glove with their all hands on deck folk rock style. “Wilder Mind” hits shelves on May 4th.

Stay Fast - Anchors (Released April 15th, 2015)

This new release from Melbourne’s own melodic punk virtuosos Anchors is everything you could want out of a track. It’s lyrically strong, with a catchy chorus that makes you want to dive headfirst into the nearest pit you can find. This along with the high octane riffs and powerfully driven drumming working in perfect harmony makes it a stand out for April’s “Song of the Month.” Keep your eye on these Melbourne locals, as they continue to make waves all over the country. You can catch them supporting A Wilhelm Scream on the 30th of April at The Evelyn Bar.
