After dominating the busking scene for a while now, Patrick James is beginning to make his mark. In 2013, he released his debut EP All About To Change, this was then followed up by the release of another EP, Broken Lines, in 2014. Not only has he played sold out shows around Australia and New Zealand, he has also supported the likes of Josh Pyke, Boy & Bear, The Paper Kites, and Emma Louise on their tours.
His most recent single ‘California Song’, is not only refreshing, it also possesses to power to transport you to better times, such a summer - especially when Melbourne is cold and drizzly right now. It contains the sounds of washed out synths merged with the sounds of shimmering guitars. The true star of the track is Patrick’s vocals, which blends in effortlessly with the nostalgic mood he creates.
In speaking about the track, Patrick has said it’s about ‘starting again, making mistakes, forbidden love and finding a new path and following it, even if you don't know where you'll end up..’.
If you want to escape from winter for four minutes, then I suggest you give ‘California Song’ a listen. If you like what you hear, then you can catch him at one his dates in Sydney or Melbourne. More info on the tour is below.
