Last week, Closet Straights released new single 'Zadie', with an upcoming LP coming soon and a show at The Workers Club in Melbourne on Friday May 29th, we had the chance to play 'What song...' with frontman Alex Lashlie.
What song reminds you of your youth?
Mum gave me The Beatles 'Greatest Hits' when I was 14 and 'Blackbird' was the track i'd listen to when I would be getting ready to go to school. Takes me back to detention.
What song is your ultimate party track?
I Feel Love by Donna Summer. It just goes on and on and on. You can really get into the pocket with this one...
What song do you listen to before you jump on stage?
Honestly I don't really listen to anything before we play. Depends who's DJ-ing. If it was up to me I'd probably listen to an extended mix of 'I Feel Love'…
What song would you make your theme song?
If i could add a splash of white rum it would be Coconut by Harry Nilsson.
What song reminds you of your first heartbreak?
The Scientist by Coldplay.
What do you have on repeat right now?
The entire 'Manipulator' record by Ty Segall! Also Lost In The Dream by War On Drugs. Don't know how I haven't become sick of this one yet. I spent $180 over my monthly mobile phone plan thing before I got the LP 'cos I was always streaming it on YouTube. What an idiot..
What song is your guilty pleasure?
Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush. I don't feel guilty though it's a bloody rip-snorta!
