NEW MUSIC: Slowly Slowly - 'Empty Lungs'

Monday, June 22, 2015

The second taste of Melbourne duo Slowly Slowly’s self recorded and produced Debut Album, the new single Empty Lungs, is a 2:30min catchy, alternative, power pop track full of emotive lyrics and chunky guitars. Reminiscent of the mid to late 90’s emotional rock sound made popular by bands such as Jimmy Eat World and A.F.I.

The beefy guitars in Empty Lungs crank along without overpowering the brooding melancholy feel and hopeful undertones that are woven together in this pop rock anthem. The combination of thoughtful and relatable lyrics with a seriously catchy chorus is always a guaranteed winner and this song is no exception.

Brimming with passion and honesty, Empty Lungs is a song that spans alternative and pop genres with something on offer for all. The single is too catchy and slick to disappear into the background, perfect for radio and fits everywhere else just as well. The duo’s debut LP Futile Set is due for release soon, surely filled with even more intricate tunes and raw lyrics.

Slowly Slowly will be playing the Catch and Release Records party at the Shadow Electric on July 9th and supporting Ceres for the final show of their Australian tour at Melbourne’s Old Bar on July 25.
