LANKS has been busy - last week he released his music video for 'Settle Down' as well as a whole bunch of tour dates around the country starting in July. He is also set to release his upcoming EP Banquet on July 3rd. This week, he took the time to share some of his favourite tracks.
What song reminds you of your youth? Brian Eno - ‘I'll Come Running’
The whole album was on repeat thanks to my dad for a few years there. I will always remember the lyric 'I'll come running to tie your shoes' because I think it was playing when I was actually learning to tie my shoes. Brian Eno and the Beatles was all I listed to until I was like 8.
What song is your ultimate party track? Prince - ‘Kiss’
Can't go past this, such a funky tune. Every time you play it at a party you just want to groove out to it, and I don't really dance much. Just so good.
What song do you listen to before you jump on stage? Björk - ‘Bachelorette’
I don't generally listen to music just before going on stage but I think if I did it has to be something epic that transports me to another place and this song totally does that. It feels important and striking and is just such an incredible composition.
What song would you make your theme song? Todd Terje - ‘Inspector Norse’
My theme song needs to have an element of humour and positive vibes to it and I love this song and the official video that went with it. This is my happy song.
What song reminds you of your first heartbreak? Jeff Buckley - ‘Last Goodbye’ / ‘Lover You Should Have Come Over’
I had a huge Jeff Buckley stage and all my teen romances feel like they were accompanied by this music, whilst I was really finding my feet as a young adult and as a musician.
What do you have on repeat right now? Mø - ‘Waste Of Time’ / Soak - ‘b a noBody’
Been slamming Mø's whole album on repeat, I'm a huge fan. Very cool production and her vocal melodies and phrasing really connect to me and are quite unusual. Also Soak, she is melodically very strong and has a big future ahead i am certain.
What song is your guilty pleasure? Peter Gabriel - ‘Sledgehammer’
No guilt in this pleasure though. Me and my friends love slamming this one in car rides, there is no better feeling than a full car of people ripping through a rendition of Sledgehammer.
