As the prince band room started to fill out, you could feel an anxious crowd waiting in anticipation for the LA rapper - Earl Sweatshirt. This feeling dragged out even longer with the first support act. As dope as his hard hitting and melodic trap set was his inability to work a crowd or have a stage presence wasn't enough to amp the crowd for Sweatshirt later on.
Crowd waits, Sweatshirts Dj comes on stage. the angst of the crowd starts to fly around the room.
Then a wild Earl appeared on the stage bringing the heart beat into the audience by performing the first track Pre from his 2013 album Doris. The atmosphere set and anticipation for more, Earl then played through the whole 'I don't give a shit, I don't go outside', Going wild to the favourites like 'DNA' and 'Grief' most people probably didn't even realise he kept referring to us as "Sydney". Sad face. Also finding out that he was performing with a sore throat Earl still managed to get the crowd vibing and roaring for more.
Sweatshirt delivered. Expectations where fulfilled. The show was finished, until the faint chanting of Sweatshirt started getting louder and louder. Earl came back for an encore, finishing the show on a even bigger note with 'Drop'.
Thank you for not punching anyone in the face Mr. Sweatshirt , You are a top bloke!
