TRACK OF THE DAY: Holy Holy - 'Sentimental and Monday'

Friday, July 10, 2015

They're set to release their highly anticipated debut album When The Storms Would Come this month, but for the time being you can enjoy the latest gem by local indie-rock duo Holy Holy.

The release of 'Sentimental and Monday' couldn't come at a better time, it's a Friday and it's time to wind down. My first listening of the track instantly evokes that feeling when you laying in bed listening to peaceful sounds of rain hitting a tin roof - maybe it's because I'm in Melbourne and it's freezing. The vocals of Timothy Carroll are a stand-out of the track. From the opening, they remain delicate and tranquil. Towards the end of the track we see him lift his vocals out of this calming zone with much more vigor - it almost will give you goosebumps. The sublime sounds of Oscar Dawson's guitar weaves around the vocals perfectly.

The lads of Holy Holy have been busy overseas in recent times, having just finished up their massive UK and EU tour. They also recently announced dates for their Australian tour, set to kick off in August.

Listen to 'Sentimental and Monday' below. Their debut album is due for release on July 24.
