After an amazing 20 years doing what they do best, AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) is proud to announce it's 10th Annual Awards. The ceremony will be presented with it's Naming Rights Partner, Carlton Dry, and supported by major partner Rdio.
The Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards is set to take place on Thursday October 22nd at the Meat Market in North Melbourne. After 10 years, it's been regarded as the industries night of nights, with performers for this year's event to be announced soon, you just know that this one is going to be their biggest yet.
Some notable Award winners over the years include John Butler Trio (2007, 2010), British India (2007), Gurrumul (2008, 2011), The Drones (2009), Dan Sultan (2010, 2014), Adalita (2011), The Jezabels (2011, 2012), Chet Faker (2012), Hermitude (2012), Flume (2013), Vance Joy (2013), Paul Kelly (2013), King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (2013), Violent Soho (2014), Remi (2014) and Courtney Barnett (2014).
The 20th Anniversary of AIR is also set to be celebrated on the night. Formed in 1995 by a group of independent labels, by early 1998 they had a membership of an amazing 25 labels. In 2000, they had 180 Label Members and numbers still continue to grow. AIR continues to work tirelessly, advocating, lobbying, advising, negotiating and promoting on behalf of its members and the broader Australian independent recording industry.
