Metric have unveiled their new music video for 'The Shade', which is set to appear on their upcoming album Pagans in Vegas.
In a statement, frontwoman Emily Haines said “Pictures, videos and graphics permeate our consciousness all hours of the day. That's what we wanted to capture in The Shade. Humanity and nature caught in patterns and loops of beauty, destruction and decay. When I say “I want it all,” this is what I'm talking about. Look at the world around you. Don't shy away from what you see, even if it's ugly. Own up to yourself and be prepared to be thrown your share of shade.”
Their LP Pagans in Vegas has been set for release on September 18 via the bands own label MMI through Create/Control. is available for pre-order on iTunes with an instant download of “Cascades,” “The Shade” and “Too Bad, So Sad.” Physical and digital pre-order packages are available on the band’s website including a variety of exclusive, autographed items and 2 bonus tracks. The limited edition EP, The Shade, includes “Cascades” alongside first single “The Shade,” additional album track “Too Bad, So Sad” and exclusive bonus track “Office Towers Escalate.”
Pagans in Vegas will be the first of two albums that created from Metric's time spent writing in 2014—guitarist/producer Jimmy Shaw at his studio in Toronto, delving into his wall of modular synthesizers, and Emily Haines with acoustic instruments in Nicaragua and Spain. It is also set to reference a number of artists who inspired them, including Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure and Underworld, as well as Kraftwerk.
