FEATURE: Top 5 Muscial Highlights From Empire Season One

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

With the premiere of season 2 of Empire fast approaching, we've decided to look at some of the musical highlights from last season. Though you've gotta love the drama from the show, it's the music that wows every week. With the likes of Timberland and James Beanz creating and producing the tunes, it's no wonder they're so damn good.

Season 2 of Empire is set to Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, Becky G, Kelly Roland, Lenny Kravitz and many more.

If you've been living under a rock and have never heard of Empire. In a sum up it's about a dysfunctional family who run a record label, but they're all total badass' too all making for some great viewing.

Here are our five favourite musical highlights from season one....

Keep Your Money (feat. Jussie Smollett)
Powerful tune after the split between ultimate boss Lucious Lyon and his son Jamal. Lucious refused to accept that Jamal was gay. Without a doubt, the track was one of the musical highlights from season one!

Good Enough (feat. Jussie Smollett)
Another emotional track that expresses the tension between Lucious and his son Jamal. Jamal wants his acceptance, and though he's incredibly talented, his dad refuses to acknowledge it because he's gay. Does Lucious eventually come around? Well you're going to have to go back to season one to find out.

Drip Drop (feat. Yazz & Serayah McNeill)
Drip drop, drip-dripoty drop....yeah, you're going to have that stuck in your head for hours, that I promise you.

Money for Nothing (feat. Jussie Smollett & Yazz)
The brothers are often placed against each other, but heres a moment of unity.

You're So Beautiful (feat. Jussie Smollett & Yazz)
The recording studio version was a real awwww moment when Cookie, Lucious, Jamal, and Hakeem were all jammin' out, and then it panned over to eldest son Andre who has no musical ability watching on afar (poor guy).

Still hating on Empire.....?
