We Play 'What Song...' With Joe Paine From Postblue

Friday, October 2, 2015

With dates fast approaching in Melbourne and Sydney, drummer Joe Paine from Postblue, took some time to share his selections for our latest instalment of 'What Song...'

What song reminds you of your youth? 'Dreams' by Fleetwood Mac
Every time I hear Dreams by Fleetwood Mac I have this very vivid memory of driving down the east coast with my family during the summer holidays in the late 90’s. My parents would always have Rumours on repeat for hours during long car trips.

What song is your ultimate party track? 'Let's Dance' by David Bowie
There’s a lot to choose from but I would definitely have to say Let’s dance by David Bowie! How can you not feel the urge for a boogie when it comes on!?

What song reminds you of your first heartbreak? '1979' by The Smashing Pumpkins
After my first big break up I pretty much immersed myself in The Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. The song ‘1979’ reminds me a lot of that time, not that it’s a sad song or break up song in particular but it definitely takes me back.

What song do you have on repeat right now? 'Pretty Pimpin' - Kurt Vile
I’ve had Kurt Vile’s 'Pretty Pimpin’ on repeat in my car for the last month. It’s absolutely brilliant! His new record will definitely be an album of the year contender for me.

What song is your guilty pleasure? 'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia
I would have to say Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. Such a 90’s classic and absolutely pulls at the heartstrings!

What song would you love to sample? 'So Now You Know' by The Horrors
I’d absolutely love to sample So Now You Know by The Horrors. There are so many amazing synth melodies and interesting ambient sounds they create that would be really cool to sample.
