So G.O.O.D Fridays returned… on a G.O.O.D Monday because of Yeezy Season 3 and we were given the extended version of the No More Parties In LA song which has a feature from Kendrick Lamar and is produced by Madlib.
The moment the track started you could automatically feel that it was produced by Madlib. He has such a distinct sound that the moment any one of his songs starts you know that it is his. It is amazing that Kanye, Kendrick, and Madlib have finally come together, something I have been waiting for, and this track did not disappoint
This song sees an extension of the themes laid out in the last track Real Friends, one of the troubles that fame brings. Kanye on this track is really energetic, aggressive, funny and charismatic bringing back an older ye vibe once again, which seems odd, as Kanye usually keeps evolving his sound with every album so I’m not sold that this track will be on SWISH.
Kendrick is also on this track and is charismatic and funny, but his verse, although good, is beaten by Kanye, something I never thought I would say. He does have some good lines like: “She said she came out here to find an A-list rapper/I said baby, spin that round and say the alphabet backwards” and “Hell, you know my repertoire is like a wrestler/I show you the ropes, connect the dots”. However his verse is kind of generic as the braggadocios and flirtatious male.
Kanye however produced a verse that was a bit more personal, similar to some old Kanye albums, with personal lyrics that are combined with some great and funny wordplay. Lyrics like: “Every agent I know know I hate agents/I'm too black, I'm too vocal, I'm too flagrant/Something smellin' like shit, that's the new fragrance” and “For all my niggas with babies by bitches/That use their kids as meal tickets/Not knowing the disconnect from the father/The next generation will be the real victims” are just really good bars and lines like this are all over Kanye’s massive 90bar verse.
“I know some fans who thought I wouldn't rap like this again/But the writer's block is over, emcees cancel your plans” is basically all you need to sum up this track. Kanye just brings it, his bars are just so good, and honestly, I never thought we would hear him rap like this, but I’m so glad we did.
Will it be on SWISH: Probably not
