FEATURE: Get To Know...The Paper Kites


The gang from The Paper Kites took some time out from their extremely busy schedule to share a little about them. Get to know their favourite place to perform, as well as what they like to jam to. Also, be sure to catch them on the road on tour at the dates below.

Sam Rasmussen
Instrument: Bass
Describe yourself in three words? Bad with words 
Where has been your favourite place to preform? We played an amazing show in Amsterdam a few months ago at The Paradiso 
Who was the first artist/band you saw in concert? My first ever show was Evanescence when I was 16. I loved it!
If you could collaborate with any another musician, who would it be? I'd love to collaborate with Justin Vernon 
What is your go to ‘banger’ tune? 'Lisztomania' by Phoenix 

Christina Lacy
Instrument: Keys/Guitar/Vocals
Describe yourself in three words?  Usually really nice :)
Where has been your favourite place to preform? Without thinking about it too much, I'm gonna say, Amsterdam, earlier this year 
Who was the first artist/band you saw in concert? Tina Arena...I still love her!
If you could collaborate with any another musician, who would it be? Personally, probably Flume 
What is your go to ‘banger’ tune? Madi Diaz 'Mess'...this one's on our pre-show playlist and now it always makes me feel like I'm on tour and about to go on stage, but it's a good one 

Dave Powys
Instrument: Guitar, Banjo, Vocals
Describe yourself in three words? Thoughts, pictures, songs 
Where has been your favourite place to preform? Paradiso in Amsterdam
Who was the first artist/band you saw in concert? Brisk at Woden Youth Centre in Canberra
If you could collaborate with any another musician, who would it be? Paul Dempsey
What is your go to ‘banger’ tune? 'Dance Wiv Me' - Dizzee Rascal

Sam Bentley 
Instrument: Vocals & guitar slinger 
Describe yourself in three words? Bubbly, sweet & intuitive 
Where has been your favourite place to preform? The Paradiso in Amsterdam 
Who was the first artist/band you saw in concert? I saw The Living End at an in store in the city, and the whole place got trashed 
If you could collaborate with any another musician, who would it be? At the moment probably Paul Buchanan (The Blue Nile)
What is your go to ‘banger’ tune? I'm an advocate for 'bands against bangers’ 

Josh Bentley
Instrument/roll: Drummer 
Describe yourself in three words? Brown haired wizard 
Where has been your favourite place to preform? Paradiso in Amsterdam. Great crowd and an amazing venue. 
Who was the first artist/band you saw in concert? Sam Bentley's highschool band "Bestbefore" at a local battle of the bands
If you could collaborate with any another musician, who would it be? Jack Black, I've always wanted to write the follow-up track to "Tribute" by Tenacious D. 
What is your go to ‘banger’ tune? My go-to pump up song at the moment is 'Covered in Chrome' by Violent Soho
