Feature: This Week In Hip Hop — 28.10.16

Friday, October 28, 2016

If you've been out of the loop on all things hip hop this week, our rap-up (pun intended) will have you covered.

Drop everything, Denzel Curry has sideshows
You might know Denzel Curry as the only decent rapper in this year's XXL Freshman cyphers (Anderson .Paak gets a pass though). This week, he announced sideshows as part of his appearance at Origin NYE Festival. He is set to take off within the few next years so take note of his name...and go see him live, it's not a suggestion, it's a demand.

Wednesday January 4 – The Basement, Sydney
Thursday January 5 - The Toff, Melbourne

Run The Jewels  'Talk To Me'
This is without a doubt the most anticipated hip hop single release of the week, can I say the year? Everyone's favourite hip hop duo are gearing up for the release of RTJ3, after the success of their 2 previous albums (plus Meow The Jewels, which was also fire). El-P's production is always on another level; the beat is abrasive, but so are the words that they are spitting. RTJ are the gift that keeps on giving.

YG - One Time Comin'
He's come a long way since his 'Toot It and Boot' It' days 6 years ago. YG is on the path to legend status.

Ab-Soul — 'Braille' (ft. Bas)
It's hard to be a member of the TDE crew with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, but Soulo stands on his own as one of the most lyrical in the group. 'Braille' is a sneak peak into his highly anticipated album DWDT, which is set to drop soon. The haunting production and grimy production is just as ear-catching as his undeniable flow.

Tech N9ne - Choosin (Feat. Brandoshis)
Tech N9ne is a god. The autotuned hook is a little meh, but Tech's rhymes are fire so it's okay.
