Interview: We Play 'What Song...' With Emma Anglesey

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Last month, Emma Anglessey dropped her stunning new single 'Mary-Anne' (scroll to the bottom to listen to the track). Recently, she also finished up an east coast tour to celebrate the release of the single, including stops in Launceston, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney. Check out Emma's responses for our latest edition of 'What Song...'

What song reminds you of your youth?
When I was 10 years old, I sneakily listened to my mum’s Deep Forest (first album) and Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Chilli Peppers) records over and over again for a whole summer.'

What song is your ultimate party track?
Sia’s 'Chandelier'. It’s so subversive. You find your body moving and singing along to lyrics that should otherwise make you weep.

What song do you like to listen to before showtime?
'Eye of the Tiger' (but seriously I don’t actually listen to music before showtime but if I did it would be this).

What song would you make your theme song?
The Lion King - 'Hakuna Matata'. Because at heart I’m a total life loving geek.

What song reminds you of your first heartbreak?
'Hey Now' – London Grammar. Hannah Reid’s voice and performance is so moving and the chords make me ache and are soothing at the same time.

What song is your guilty pleasure?

'Royals' – Lorde. I love singing along while I’m driving my car and dancing (safely) behind the wheel like a total crazy person.
