Mixtape Review: Evanda - Og Gree

Monday, December 12, 2016

Evanda, Perth local and figure head of Home Baked, dropped his recent mixtape, a successor to his acclaimed OG Gree mixtape in 2015. While it shares a lot with the past mixtape you can hear him extended his style. More layered beats and experimental flows add up to one great tape.

It is interesting to see how he has evolved over the year, while a lot of mc’s stick to a certain style and refuse to evolve this mixtape shows Evanda’s ability to evolve but still keep his unique style.

Songs like Rockstar, F-U, ADIBMM act as high points, tonally, on the album with tracks like Dontknow, Intere$t, and Latenights create a more melodic and slowed down vibe. The album has great flow track from track creating a dope listening experience from start to end.

Standout tracks like RockStar, Go to Sleep, Everything Purple/ No Caller ID and RAW really showcase his skills and unique sound he is cultivating, and some great features from the likes of Black Napoleon, Psychosowdy, and Luchii show how great this crew is when they come together. (When’s the Home Baked tape coming boys?)

If you want to see what’s taking over the Perth scene then hit this mixtape up, defiantly one of the best voices on the scene at the moment.
