Andy Ward, up-and-coming musician/producer and multi-media artist, dropped his single 'Drinks&Money' late last year. The Brisbane artist accompanies music with his art installations with crazy visual effects that reflect his musical journey.
What song reminds you of your youth?
It's got to be 'Aqualung' by Jethro Tull. As a little kid, my older brothers shaved AC/DC into their heads and would spend summer holidays head-banging with this on repeat.
What song is your ultimate party track?
'Pusherman' by Curtis Mayfield. I don't think music was ever slicker, sexier, cooler or more grooving than this. It's still hot as shit 40 years later. Superfly!
What song do you listen to before you jump on stage?
'Stronger' by Kanye. I mean it's Daft Punk and Kanye. If you want to get pumped up, Kanye can help, I mean look at the dude.
What song would you make your theme song?
'Who Wants To Live Forever' by Queen. Freddie Mercury is my all time favourite. I loved the Highlander movies as a kid. The film clip has a seemingly infinite universe of candles, what more could you want? But seriously, it's a beautiful song, and it's part of Freddie's later stuff that really packs a punch.
What song reminds you of your first heartbreak?
'Lover You Should've Come Over' by Jeff Buckley. Grace was one of the first records I bought. He's a huge influence on my vocal style and every time I hear it I want to cry. He balances musical beauty and emotional lament perfectly. Genius.
What do you have on repeat right now?
'Good to Love' by FKA Twigs. The production on this is so subtle and ethereal. Great use of space. It's proper good!
What song is your guilty pleasure?
'All of Me' by John Legend. I mean I melt every time I hear this guy sing. His voice is ridiculous, and the song is produced so perfectly it hurts my brain. When I want to feel all warm and fuzzy, I put this on.
