I first saw Client Liasion almost two years ago when they played Splendour. I remember losing my mind at the slinky dude on stage in a bright gold lycra onesie, belting out tunes fit for an 80's roller disco. The energy in the crowd was euphoric — grown adults who probably haven't been that happy since they were 7 years old and tumbling around in a rainbow ball pit. But that's the kinda thing you could only recreate at a large scale festival, right?
Lol, wrong. Over the weekend UOW's Unibar was transformed into one giant jungle gym thanks to Client Liasion, where they played two pretty much sold out shows back-to-back.
Rockin' a sweet symphony of retro office attire, the guys really gave us all a lesson as to why disco will truly live on, forever & ever.
'Wild Life', 'Canberra Won't Be Callin Tonight', 'Feed The Rhythm', 'Pretty Lover' — the Unibar was seriously bouncing. The guys didn't miss a beat. The lights were on point, the synchronised steps across the stage — did I mention the Savage Garden cover? Well yeah, they did that too (ah-mazing).
It's also a really refreshing feeling when you look up to the stage at a gig, and you can just tell that the band are all just genuinely top blokes. The kinda dudes you would want around at a house party when you've realised some rando has just taxed all your hidden Fosters and it's only 9 pm and, well, you're thirsty. But if you're as short as me, it's pretty hard to actually see the stage.
Welp, height ain't no thang for Client Liaison. Handing out FREE CANS OF FOSTERS to the crowd because THEY'RE JUST THAT NICE AND MAYBE PEOPLE ARE THIRSTY, BUT DON'T WANT TO GO TO THE BAR BECAUSE THEY MIGHT MISS SOMETHING! Oh man, you guys rule.
The Diplomatic Immunity Tour still has a bunch of dates left to come. Chase up tickets and go share a froth or two with the guys — cos why the heck not!?
