Feature: We Play 'What Song...' with Overcoats

Wednesday, May 3, 2017

NYC duo Overcoats released their highly anticipated debut album YOUNG last month, and have been busy playing shows, including appearances at SXSW and supporting shows with Maggie Rogers. Check out the songs Hana and JJ love in our latest edition of 'What Song...'

What song reminds you of your youth?
'Vienna' by Billy Joel. We both used to listen to this in our teenage years, and I think it's safe to say...cry to it as well? The song carries so much weight about the naiveté of youth and bittersweet feeling of growing up.

What song is your ultimate party track?
'Hold Yuh' by Gyptian. Sometimes you've just got to get those hips moving...

What song do you listen to before you jump on stage?
'Fade' by Kanye West. It sometimes feels odd to dance around to Kanye West before getting on a stage to sing vulnerable folk-pop songs, but it gets us pumped up.

What song would you make your theme song?
'Cecilia' by Simon and Garfunkel. So joyful, and all in harmony.

What song reminds you of your first heartbreak?
'Seaside' by The Kooks. Ooof...

What do you have on repeat right now?
'Fire in Your Eyes' by Middle Kids. We heard them play at SXSW this March and got hooked. Amazing band, amazing sound, amazing song.

What song is your guilty pleasure?
Anything Rihanna. But we're not guilty.
