Single Review: Little Cub – ‘Death of a Football Manager'

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

London based, Little Club have just dropped their latest single, ‘Death of a Football Manager'. The single features alongside hit single ‘Too Much Love' on their debut album Still LifeThe band doesn’t stray too far from their indie pop roots on their new single. The song itself creates depth beyond the lyrics — the vocal delivery of Dominic Gore gives the song depth as it glides through a traumatic story of the past.

Gore speaks of this in a statement, "I wanted to write about the tragedy surrounding the death of former Wales manager Gary Speed. I was a big fan of his when I was kid and his suicide was a massive shock to a lot of people".

Little Club writes each song with a sincere and honest tone. The raw emotion beautifully narrates itself through the vintage waves of music the band creates. This song takes me back to the days of pop sensation Rooney.

‘Death of a Football Manager' radiates alternative pop at its finest. Their album Still Life is out now, and it’s definitely worth a listen.
