Feature: We Play 'What Song...' with MAYA

Just last month, MAYA unleashed her single 'What We Are Worth' into the wild, and we were wowed by her stunning lyricism. Before MAYA plays her What We Are Worth launch shows in Melbourne, she took some time out to share some of her favourite tunes with us.

What song reminds you of your youth?
'Yellow Submarine' by the Beatles — My dad would always blast Beatles on our drives and the movie was one of my favorites.

What song would you love to sample?
I would love to do a 'Skyfall'  Adele twisted deep house remix. I love the song’s melodies and could image they would be great to remix.

What song did you last listen to?
I am currently listening to The Roots' Dilla Joints album. It is mostly instrumental, which is really cooling on my brain after listing and learning a lot of disco lately.

What song do you wish you collaborated on?
OutKast's 'Ms Jackson' - Imagine a girl on the chorus… I adore OutKast, any OutKast song…!

What song is your ultimate party track?
'Insomnia' by Faithless. Never get any sleep on that track ;)

What song has been your favourite track of this year?
Loving George Maple  'Lover'. I am very stuck in the past when it comes to music but she is great.

You can catch MAYA at the below shows:
Thursday November 30 - Ferdydurke, Melbourne (18+)
Friday December 1 - The Night Cat, Fitzroy (18+)
