Single Review: ISLAND – 'The Day I Die'

Friday, November 17, 2017

London-based ISLAND have unleashed their electrifying new single 'The Day I Die' from their highly anticipated debut LP Feels Like Air, which is due for release on April 6 via Frenchkiss Records.

'The Day I Die' is assertive. Rollo Doherty's vocals will hit you hard with its ferocity and force. The degree of passion in his voice is compelling and gives you a glimpse into the powerful emotions that underpin the track. In 'The Day I Die', he voices views about the trials and tribulations of living in our modern world. The track is also evidence of his incredible skill as a vocalist and ability to transform his voice. Though the vocals are weighty, they are backed by a smooth instrumental. The way they have balanced the commanding nature of the vocals with an infectious rhythm and their enchanting guitar-work is absolutely excellent.
