Artist Spotlight: Daye Jack

Thursday, December 7, 2017

Remember the name Daye Jack, he’s about to be everywhere in 2018.The Nigerian-American artist from Atlanta has already been working hard the last few years, having dropped his LP No Data this year, and has collaborated with Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike. Before chasing music, he pursued computer programming and was attending NYU, and whilst there, decided to chase music. His style is innovative and different — he switches between singing and rapping effortlessly, and is able to do it on any beat, no matter how intricate or complex it is. We feature some of the tracks we love from our new favourite experiment hip hop wizard.

‘Lady Villain’:
This track is one of the many highlights from No Data. The lyrics are reflective, and the sublime production will have you mesmerized. This track is gold and you need to add it to your playlist right now.

‘Hands Up’ (ft. Killer Mike):
‘Hands Up’ is a powerful protest track about dire situation that’s been happening over in America (and many other places around the world) for far too long. The track is a soulful take on the Black Lives Matter movement and police brutality. The video also features thought-provoking footage to accompany the track.

‘Hello World’:
Now over 3 years old, it seems like yesterday ‘Hello World’ was unleashed into the wild. We still love it today.

‘Romantics’ (Ft. Daye Jack) by Tove Lo:
This collab between Daye Jack and Tove Lo is absolutely perfect, it sounds like what dreams are made of. We want more, and we want it now.
