Now Playing: The Moving Stills – ‘Nineteen’

Monday, February 12, 2018

Your teenage years are a time for dreaming and self-discovery, of first kisses and house parties, and of road trips and not counting your calories. It is a time we almost want to last forever. So, what better way is there to defy the movement of getting older than screaming “I don’t wanna turn nineteen” into the stereo of your car with The Moving Stills’ latest single, ‘Nineteen’? I’ll wait.

‘Nineteen’ is introduced with pulsating bass guitar before kicking off with rhythmic drums and vocals that are sure to have you dancing. However, it is the fresh lyricism from these fun-loving lads that has all of us hooked. Alongside sweet garage sounds and surf flavours, the band deliver an ode to their age and the bittersweet inevitability of adulting. Following their journey out of high school, this track has us both staring at our work shoes in defiance and laughing at ourselves at the same time.

‘Nineteen’ showcases the refreshing talent possessed by each of the members of The Moving Stills. Be sure to check out this song, and, if you’re at the Mountain Sounds Festival next weekend, witness their energy in action for me, if not for yourself.
