Now Playing: Cozz – 'Zendaya' (ft. J. Cole)

Monday, March 5, 2018

Los Angeles rapper Cozz caught the world’s attention back in 2014 when he released ‘Dreams’ — a single that landed him a signing with J. Cole’s label Dreamville Records. Ever since then, Cozz has continued to impress us with his ability to sing and write. He recently dropped his debut album Effected.

‘Zendaya’ features (and was produced by) none other than J. Cole. This collaboration definitely does not let us down. The lyrics are meaningful as Cozz talks about the tough times in everyday life and Cole shows us his honesty, opening up about the issues of Xanax and drug usage in rap.

The production remains amazing throughout and we would not have expected anything less from Cole. Although he is a strong feature, Cozz still stands out in the song and shows us his talent. The rapping and the smooth singing obviously suits his voice and offers us strong storytelling, helping us get a better understanding into the rapper’s life. Cozz shows his growth as an artist throughout each track and there is no doubt that he is going to continue to put out hits with the Dreamville label.
