Now Playing: Ben Howard – 'A Boat To an Island On The Wall'

Friday, April 6, 2018

He’s back! After a long-awaited four-year gap since the Englishmen’s UK #1 record I Forget Where We Were, singer-songwriter Ben Howard has delivered a brand-new track entitled 'A Boat To an Island On The Wall'. On the back of the new release, Howard announced that he will be releasing new album Noonday Dream, which can be expected on 1st June this year.

The new 7-minute long track sings mellow but dark, ominous tones, similar to his second album. If we can expect anything from the new record, it’s that Ben Howard is a huge fan of slow verses with large build-ups to distorted solos. You’ll find a large portion of the opening of the song setting the foundation of the narrative.

As always with Howard’s more recent gear, his work has become more abstract and interpretive. Moving on significantly from his debut acoustically-driven album Every Kingdom. His lyrics linger and encourage deep thought. Howard has a powerful ability to wow his listeners and fans with his soft voice and lyrics, and then leave them to explore a psychedelic flow towards the end.

We can’t wait to hear the rest of Noonday Dream and we're sure that if it's anything like 'A Boat To an Island On The Wall' we can expect big things. I mean, a four-year break from the limelight means he must have some tasty tracks to trickle out to fans, right?
