Berlin-based Novaa has just unveiled her new single 'Denim Queen' and the single is pop-perfection. She shares the story behind the track and why it's a special release for her.
I wrote 'Denim Queen’… when a lot of things were falling apart and I needed the courage to guide where things were going. This song made me remember that I attract whatever happens and whoever comes in my life and that I am the one to decide who I want to be as a person and what kind of life I want to live.
The story behind ‘ Denim Queen' is… a 21 yr old one that is about suffering and healing and change and struggling and freedom.
My favourite lyric is… “A lady asked for diamond rings / so I gave her a stone that was glistening / Imagine what your life could be“
It was made… to make people fall in love with change and themselves.
My main inspiration was… thrift shopping and self-care.
It sounds best when… walking through a crowded street imagining how all the people would dance to it when being alone at home.
