Thursdays this November at The Tote in Melbourne are about to become even more exciting with Ms.45 set to appear during the month. To celebrate the release of Neuromancer and the shows Ella Jackson of Ms.45 picks out some tunes in our latest 'What Song...'
What song reminds you of your youth?
Oh you know, all the usual 90s pop shit. Jennifer Paige’s ‘Crush’, ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence None the Richer… Definitely some Billie Piper.
What song would you love to sample?
I was just thinking recently, I’d love to sample the crazy saxophone music from the dance party scene in the film Ms.45. We got contacted by the composer of the film recently and it made me think a collaboration was in order.
What song do you have on repeat right now?
I’ve been listening to a lot of Goat Girl recently. Their song ‘Throw Me A Bone’ is beautiful. The last song I literally listened to on repeat was ‘Apokalypse’ by Fehlfarben though, I think.
What song reminds you of your last holiday?
Honestly, probably our song ‘Salt Water’. We filmed the video with all our closest friends on the beach last Summer and I think that was the last holiday I’ve had… We had the fun of listening to it about 100 times, in fast and slow motion…
What song do you wish you collaborated on?
‘Burnin’ Down the House’ with Tom Jones. We have this theory that Tom Jones and Nina Persson never actually met when they did that collaboration.
What song would you love to cover live?
‘Tender is the Night’ by The Triffids. I have a recorded cover version of that song that will possibly be included on the album as a bonus track. I think it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
