Swedish duo lennixx featuring Hanna Larsson and Andrea Kallström ooze confidence on their latest single 'Bad Bird'. Their sound draws on the magic of R&B from the nineties but with a fresh twist and it's utterly hypnotising. The duo dive into their soulful new single for us below.
We wrote ‘Bad Bird'… when we just wanted to express ourselves and ventilate about a certain situation.
The story behind ‘Bad Bird’ is... about a toxic relationship that has come to an end when the person in question tries to ruin things for you, because they are overwhelmed by bitterness. Instead of dealing with it in a healthy way, they just try to turn everyone against you and make up dishonest rumours and talk badly about you. In the song, we reply with “I have my real friends who will always have my back, and I couldn’t care less what you have to say about me”.
My favourite lyric is…
Hanna: “Try to get it in your head, focus on yourself instead”
Andrea: “Your ache is covered by a pretence that you’re mad, so mad”
It was made… in the studio with Rasmus Budny and Mårten Fohlin
Our main inspiration was… we just wanted to take inspiration from what we felt right there and then. Both musically and lyrically.
It sounds best when… it’s played on a great speaker! Could be anywhere, in the car, at home or just when you are in the mood and feel confident and a bit badass. And we think that people who care about lyrics can really get this song.
