Los Angeles-based duo Bleached, featuring sisters Jessica and Jennifer Clavin, recently unveiled their new single 'Shitty Ballet', which is their first taste of new music since releasing their EP Can You Deal? in 2017. Jennifer from the duo took some time out to give us the story behind 'Shitty Ballet'.
We wrote ‘Shitty Ballet'… In our practice space with our friend Madi in a span of 4 hours. It was one of those songs that came together super fast.
The story behind ‘Shitty Ballet' is…when you’re in a relationship and you feel vulnerable so you’re wondering what is and isn’t okay to say. And if you say it or speak your mind will they hold it against you?
My favourite lyric is… “Don’t wanna pretend it’s okay when it’s not. Can’t help it, I said it, but like omg once I start I don’t know how to stop.”
It was made… in Los Angeles with Producer Shane Stoneback.
Our main inspiration was… The demo! We were trying to recreate the magic of the rawness on the demo. It worked.
It sounds best when… played loud but then not too loud cuz you don’t wanna blast your ears when the end comes in.
