We're thrilled to today bring you Sam Phay's brand new single 'Hell Or High Water', which is set to appear on his upcoming debut EP Botanical, due for release this year. The single was one of the first tracks he wrote and it's one guaranteed to leave you with chills.
'Hell Or High Water' transcends from a minimal track to something that's utterly arresting. The initial portion of the song features delicate vocals, a driving piano and panicking electronic drums beating below the surface — but when his vocals break loose, as does the rest of the song and the result feels like waves gushing towards the shore.
On the track, he said, "I like to think of this track as a moment for the EP where the clouds part and the light starts to poke through a little. It still feels dark and brooding at points but there’s a real genuine positivity to it all. Lyrically it’s very reflective, sincere and I like to characterise it as being the ending of the narrative that’s been established by the previous songs."
Hit play and let Sam Phay bewitch you with 'Hell Or High Water' below.
