Australian duo Midnight Pool Party recently shared their sophomore EP Motions. Designed to make you groove, the EP is what you want to be playing on repeat this weekend. Darren and Oliver from Midnight Pool Party share some of their favourite songs with us. Scroll down give Motions a whirl below.
What song reminds you of your youth?
Darren: 'Sex City' by Van She. Anything by Van She is the soundtrack to my youth. It just reminds me of a carefree time of my life and being with my friends and going to gigs. I've lost count of how many times I saw them at gigs and festivals.
Oliver: 'Lady' - Modjo. This is a classic house track and was played at every festival or club during my youth. I lost my shit every time I heard it.
What song do you have on repeat right now?
Darren: 'Juice' by Lizzo. Its literally make me so happy and makes me feel sassy.
Oliver: Fisher - 'You Little Beauty'. Just a banger.
What song reminds you of your last holiday?
Darren: 'Treat You Better' by RÜFÜS DU SOL. I didn't actually listen to much music when I was on my last holiday but leading up to my holiday, I was listening to a lot of their recent album.
Oliver: 'NYC Beat' - Armand Van Helden. Last holiday was New York City.
What song is your favourite of 2019, so far?
Darren: Well right now, I just started listening to Tyler, The Creators latest album Igor. I'm yet to unravel all the layers of this body of work so I think its too premature for me to make any commentary, but I am excited to get into it.
Oliver: Fisher - 'You Little Beauty'. It’s on repeat.
What song would you love to cover live?
Darren: '100% Pure Love' by Crystal Waters. It's a classic and it's so goddamn catchy. It's one of those songs you forget about, but every time I hear it, I have the same reaction "Oh yeah, I forgot how much I love this song". I think if we put our spin on it, it would be pretty cool!
Oliver: 'Apache' - The Incredible Bongo Band. But will need a full band.
What song do you love to play during long drives?
Darren: 'Heart Attack' by Flight Facilities, especially on night drives. It's such a vibe and almost hypnotic when you're driving and the lights passing by almost like it's in-sync with the arpeggiated synth.
Oliver: I love listening to Daft Punks’ album Homework from beginning to end. I always hear something new every time I hear that album
