Now Playing: Rhumba Club – 'Normativity'

Monday, May 13, 2019

Not only are London's Rhumba Club on a mission to create fine tunes, but they're also hoping to create a cult according to their Facebook. Their newest tune 'Normativity' is a slice of 80's synth-pop heaven and one taste won't be enough. The video for the track was directed by Jemini Rock.

'Normativity' explores toxic masculinity, lead singer and writer Tom Falle said, "I wanted to take on heteronormativity in a brutal way. “Normativity” is an anthemic pop track that gets people dancing and singing in unison – turning the audience into a homogenous…normative mass. I imagine everyone doing the macarena whilst singing “Let’s all do the normativity!” – it’s designed to create a kind of grotesque moment."

Through their music, Rhumba Club encourage inclusivity and an environment where all can get together and hit the dancefloor.
