Now Watching: The Ninth Wave – 'This Broken Design'

Friday, May 24, 2019

Earlier this month, Glasgow's The Ninth Wave shared the first part of their debut album Infancy and it was pretty damn impressive (check out our review here). Around the same time, they also shared the video for 'This Broken Design'. The duo have fast become one of our favourite breakthrough acts of the year and they continue to leave us utterly in awe of everything they deliver.

The video for 'This Broken Design' is ghastly and downcast, but you can't look away. In the clip, a mime wakes up face-flat with a bloody bruise and wanders around in isolation within an abandoned building. The mime continues to jump out of windows but is trapped in an endless loop that always results in him waking up bloody. It's a confronting video, but one that captures the essence of the track.
