East London trio deep tan impressed us a few months back with their incredible single 'air' and now they're back again, this time sharing two slices of heaven with their double a-side singles 'shimmer' and 'constant inconsistencies' (released via Practice Music). The contrasting singles both showcase different sides of the trio on the rise.

'shimmer' is the softer track of the two tracks. According to deep tan 'shimmer' is about "surface-level people with malice that runs deep. People who operate with cruel intentions, who mask their agenda with a pretty convincing, shiny veneer." The band captures the energy of this type of person through their use of smokey vocals and shifting soundscapes that weave together enticingly.

The second track 'constant inconsistencies' portrays another unlikeable person, which is someone who isn't supportive. On the track, they said, "‘constant inconsistencies’ is about someone who isn’t there for you when you need them, whether that's for support in a serious crisis or just for a pint: “It’s a commonly felt thing, everyone has had someone where they’ve thought You love them, but where the fuck are they??” The song sounds like something you would hear in a neo-noir film where a heroine is plotting her revenge.
