Porches, the project of Aaron Maine, is back with new music, this time sharing his latest single 'rangerover'. The single is his first taste of new music since his 2018 album The House. If you listen carefully, you'll also hear Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) crooning on background vocals.

Maine has never let genre control him sonically, instead, he places emphasis on experimenting with whatever he feels works to tell his story. 'rangerover' is a stirring single home to contemplative and narrative-esque lyrics by Maine. His words, "How do you sleep at the end of the day? / When you close your eyes, and all you see is her face," will make you stop in your tracks. 'rangerover' is the type of song that you need to close your eyes to and soak in every word that you hear.

Along with sharing the single, he has also released a lengthy statement on Porches and his passion for the project. Here's a snippet of Maine's words:

"Sometimes you can string words together that don’t make sense literally, but they capture whatever the sentiment is so perfectly that it doesn’t matter. You know when it feels right, and you know when it feels wrong. I try and keep what I make close to home. Sometimes that home is fantasy, sometimes it’s autobiographical, sometimes it’s neither, but it’s always a way to interpret my experiences in a way that is intimate to me.

Like any other type of diary, when you open up an old one you can feel all sorts of things: proud, ashamed, excited, mortified, humbled, out of your mind, smart, idiotic.  I feel all of these things about Porches."
