Wergaia/Wemba Wemba based singer/songwriter Alice Skye late last month unleashed her exquisite new single ‘Grand Ideas’. The track is her first single of the year and was released via Briggs’ label Bad Apples.
The moving track is about feeling helpless and how she could feel the weight of the world on her shoulders — open and reflective, the track is home to words such as, “Lately I’ve been trying to sort myself out / creating some space trying to rearrange all of these thoughts bigger than me / there’s a living room inside my head / even fictiously it’s a fucking mess,” as well as in the chorus “Everything I have is too heavy to hold/ Everything I do feels out of my control.” The vibrant indie-rock number is also endlessly catchy, and though her words are poignant, there’s an underlying groove that will have you swaying along each time that you press play.
