Wolverhampton artist Cariss Auburn late last month unleashed her lush disco-pop gem ‘Daydream’ (via Modern Sky). The dazzling track is a preview of her forthcoming EP Refraction, which is due for release next month.

The cathartic number was written by Cariss as way of processing the way she was feeling. She said on 'Daydream', “Living in such a connected world I feel that we absorb so much trauma and pain daily — especially as a black woman. It’s hard to take a break from that pain without feeling this immense guilt. But we deserve that break!”

She also adds, “it’s no fix-all but I wanted to invite everyone into my personal escapist world — 80s music and reminiscing over my holiday to Japan.”

The accompanying music clip features Cariss backed by footage from her previous trip to Japan while rocking fab outfits by emerging designers such as Natsuki Hanyu, Alice Hampton and Anastasia Bull.
